The Chinese government issued a ban on animal circuses and certain types of animal abuse at zoos that went into effect on Tuesday. According to The Telegraph, the ban entails several different stipulations that zoos will need to comply with, and pertains to the 300 state-owned zoos that are part of the China Zoo Association. The Green Party has reacted strongly to proposals to construct a 3,770-cow dairy in Lincolnshire. Nocton Dairies last month submitted proposals for a “mega-dairy” on Nocton Heath, sparking protest from animal rights and sustainability campaigners. Thanks to Sharon Howe for recommending I check out the Uncaged website. Uncaged are a peaceful international animal protection organisation based in Sheffield, England. Their main campaigns are against animal experiments (vivisection); against xenotransplantation (animal to human transplants); the global boycott of Procter & Gamble; for animal rights and for democratic action on animal issues through the political system.
