PROSECUTIONS DEMANDED FOR SLAUGHTERHOUSE CRUELTY: ANIMAL AID RELEASES NEW COVERT FILM
Animal Aid today has released footage taken covertly at the Soil Association-approved Sturminster Newton abattoir in Dorset. This is the sixth UK slaughterhouse to be filmed by the campaign group, and the footage shows serious welfare failings and three significant breaches of the law. The [...]

Sustainable Ottery is flabbergasted that EDDC’s Development Management Committee voted in favour of a full 20,000 sq ft Sainsbury store in Ottery at its meeting on 15 April. This decision went against the combined wisdom of EDDC’s own planning officers, the retail specialists GVA Grimley, and English Heritage who all recommended a smaller store. It [...]

During the run up to the General Election, I’m being emailed every day by various organisations asking me (and other election candidates) to endorse their manifestos, sign their pledges and fill in their questionnaires. Here’s one of the latest issues I’m happy to endorse as a candidate for the Green Party here in East Devon.
CAMRA, [...]

I was watching the BBC news this morning and saw an interesting article on vertical farming. My ears pricked up when the farmer explained that vertical farming could be used to farm more locally.
The UK’s first vertical farmer Chris Bradford says “We can put them right inside cities close to the markets, cut down on [...]

Interesting article by Felicity Lawrence in The Guardian last week – British Supermarkets at root of vegetable supply problem.
Apparently demand for carrots shoots up due to panic buying as Downing Street warned about crop shortage…
On Monday morning root veg took its place alongside the prime minister’s presentation of his election campaign team. Carrots and some [...]
