The culling is essential. Red Squirrels are a native British animal. Any and all meausres should be taken to save them. Red Squirrels live at lower densities and eat less than the Greys. There is even evidence to suggest the Reds live shorter lives.

Reds can live here without doing serious damage. They are perfectly designed to fit in to our countryside. They are not designed to live with the Grey, which is much more destructive.

Conservation ALWAYS comes above animal rights (not animal welfare, animal rights - the two are not the same). Conservation is always the priority, and rightly so.

There is PLENTY of habitat for the Reds, despite what some people might say.

The fact some people want to let the Reds go extinct is ridiculous and grotesque.

Try Herbies' lasagne and pizza - gorgeous "cheesy" topping - you'll never need dairy cheese again! Marigold's Nutritional Yeast Flakes are great for toppings (mix them with a bit of vegan mayo if you like), or for cheese sauces. And there are new vegan cheeses coming out all the time - try a few and see if there's one you like (we all have our preferences!) Tahini makes another good savoury topping. Take courage - there's a whole world out there! More tips at our Vegan Pledge event on Sat 31 May (see www.effa-uk.org) And a great place to go is the Bristol Vegfest (26-27 May) - there you can try all sorts of vegan foods and get lots of special offers!

This is an excellent post. I believe that going vegan and staying vegan is the most peaceful form of protest. Those little chicks break my heart into a million pieces.
Wishing you all the best:)

Eat the grays....you'll be preserving songbirds too! They are not indigenous, and if they had scaley rats tails, people's perception generally, would be rather different.

HI Sharon-- if you pour in the soya milk at the same time as the boiling water- this prevents curdling. Otherwise heat up the soya milk of course

There's also a rare opportunity to see and discuss the BBC programme A Farm for the Future (originally shown as part of the Natural World series) with wildlife film maker and Devon farmer Rebecca Hosking, at Kilmington Village Hall, at 7.30pm, on Thursday, March 15.

Additionally, the government sponsored push for ethanol has caused major shortages in corn in the USA, and spikes in just about everything food related. What the average person doesn't realize is that many of our everyday foods have a component of corn or corn syrup in them, thus when there is a shortage of corn, there is a spike in the price, and eventually a spike in other foods derived from corn.
