Recycling Old Clothes

As you may know, we are working on our fundraising efforts this autumn to support candidates standing for the Green Party here in East Devon – in May 2011. We have a green tombola stall planned at the Exeter Green Fair on Sat 4th Sept then we’re hoping to organise a visit to Henry’s Farm and a table at a boot sale in Sept/Oct.

Another idea – which doesn’t involve much effort really, and we have done a couple of times through my children’s schools – is to collect all our unwanted clothing and get it recycled through a textile recycling company.

If we all have a rumble through our wardrobes and bag up any clothing  (or any fabrics, blankets, old bedding etc) we can put them all together and we get paid by total weight. The last time we did this at school – we raised about £250 !!!

So if you have a spare 5 minutes this week and can bag up some old clothes – please let me know so we can arrange to collect them and put them towards raising much needed funds for our small party – so we can GET THE GREENS ON COUNCILS HERE IN EAST DEVON !!

Thanks for reading.

Sharon

P.S. Ask relatives if they are due a clearout too – the more old clothes, the more money we raise!
