We had a bit of an open house/party last night to celebrate me being selected as a Green Party parliamentary candidate for East Devon (plus my birthday & my little girls’ birthday). My mother in law Sue asked whether we would need to get some rosettes, and suggested maybe we could knit or crochet them. What a wonderful idea!!!

I’ve done a bit of research to see whether there are any patterns are out there and found this lovely pink crocheted flower above on the Midnight Knitter website, which of course we could do in green when campaigning in the run up to the general election. There’s lots of flowers on the www.allkindsofwonderful.com site – great for inspiration, but no patterns. And I found this yellow and green handmade crochet corsage brooch on the www.storeone.net website.

There’s also felt rosettes or felt flowers like this beautiful red one on the left from www.nacionaldesign.com and the blue one with a button in the middle from www.serendipityscotland.com

I have a lovely green and pink felt flower brooch which people often comment on and ask where they could buy one! I bought mine up in a little shop in Thirsk in North Yorkshire, a long long way from Devon. Rosettes are a lovely fashionable thing to wear so maybe we could start making them – either felt, crocheted or knitted and sell them too – to help our fundraising efforts for our new East Devon Green Party group.

Please let me know what you think by adding a comment below – can you knit? Could you help us make them, have you got a good pattern we could use?
